Computer controlled robot

The photo shows a senior project done by two SUNY New Paltz students. Sophi Kravitz and Kelly Rogers worked on the animated robot head for their Senior Design Project under the guidance of Adjunct Professor Gary Bischoff. The robot head turns to face any movement that it senses on it's left or right. The eyelids move in response to ambient light. The mouth moves in sync with a voice stating what the temperature is. Ms. Kravitz and Ms. Rogers graduate this year with a degree in Electrical Engineering. The robot includes servo motors for the head and mouth, temperature sensing, light detection, a digital voice all under the control of two microcomputers. According to Bischoff, "I have supervised several senior projects at SUNY, but this one was certainly the most fun. The students were very creative in using several different technologies to demonstrate and apply their knowledge of electronics as well as mechanical skills."
